Okay you fags; I've heard a lot about the potential of botnets and after some careful consideration I decided to build my own bot. I'm not going to deploy it; it will be something of a study on botnet components. As such, I will only work on the communication between nodes and a few simulated functions they can perform, I won't be building a delivery mechanism, xploiting bugs etc.
Good; most botnets nowadays that are publicly know have their C&C over IRC. This is bs if you ask me, so I decided to make the network itself the delivery of the payload when needed. What I was thinking was; A node in the network has links to 3 or 4 other nodes. There is no start or end to the list of nodes; they will often be referring to each other, create circular chains etc, but that doesn't matter. The bot will only keep data about the payload, the payload itself and instructions in active memory, nothing is stored on any semi-permanent memory. I imagine that when a node comes online it hooks into the network and requests the current payload and other info.
Uploading instructions would be easy, and could be done at any node, it should spread like cancer throughout the entire network. This way nodes that go offline and come back online can be fully reintegrated. Using chance to decide what way a new node is added, this network will with overwhelming probability be a optimally balanced, so in a network of 50000 nodes, no node will be 10 or 11 nodes away from the current one if I keep the 3-link limit.
Distributing a hypothetical 250 million list of email addresses, I guessed it would be something like 8,5 GiB's, would require a fast link to just one link, which then distributes the list in halves to the three nodes it knows. Alternating the halves over the three links gives about 50 reduncancy. Nodes that receive a redudant block will know they have it, so they won't use it when the payload is delivered, but as a backup for nodes that reboot. After the list lives inside the cloud, sending emails should be easy, just distribute the message over the network and each node with a non-redundant datablock will start sending at some rate.

actually, OP just read wiki and said it could be done better
So basically it's just going to be a retarded cluster constructed by someone who doesn't know anything about cluster computing? I can't wait!
Dude, you wrote this on the 13th.
Did you botnet-ddos most of the bigger chans?
I am very interested in decentralized networks. So hhow would you establish that you are the author to upload to one of the nodes? Why couldn't someone just hijack your botnet?
also this kind of botnet would be interesting to use as a cloud computing platform or a document storage network.
